Origin, an award-winning outdoor sport and tourism-focused creative, content and strategic marketing agency founded in Whistler, Canada, has opened a United States presence as of April 2019. The subsidiary, located in Vermont, marks Origin’s growth and continued commitment to its clients.

“We’ve been considering a move into the U.S. for several years but wanted to make sure it was one that made sense—both for us and our clients,” said MJ Legault, partner at Origin. “We decided now is the time, with the addition of several new American outdoor brands to our client roster this year. Being ‘on the ground’ with these valued brands will enable us to provide better service, access an American talent pool and increase our presence in key markets.”

More than half of Origin’s clients are based in the U.S. including L.L.Bean, Squaw Valley, Taos Ski Valley, Park City Resort, Breckenridge Resort, Jay Peak Resort, and Sun Valley Tourism, among others.

Origin’s niche provides a deep and rare understanding of the outdoor sport and tourism industries and what makes their consumers tick. “Our mission is to inspire people to get outside,” continued Legault. “It’s pretty simple. Establishing a more formal presence in the U.S. lets us do more of what we love—bringing results-driven projects and campaigns to outdoor brands.”

Founded in 1997, Origin currently has two offices located in Whistler and Montréal as well as staff in Ontario, Vermont and Colorado. Its 40 employees live by the “We are where we live” motto and benefit from a “guilt-free paid time off policy” and the “20 cm rule” on powder days.
