PORTLAND, OR, September 24, 2019—KEEN, Inc. (KEEN), the Portland, Oregon-based brand on a mission to create original and versatile products, improve lives, and inspire adventures outside, will provide natural disaster relief for those affected by Hurricane Dorian with longtime partners All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response and Good360. KEEN will send 3,300 pairs of new, top-quality outdoor and workwear socks to affected individuals, a few hundred pairs of Utility boots for volunteers assisting with relief efforts, and KEEN employees will volunteer to clear debris and muck and gut houses.
KEEN joins a “Resilient Response” disaster relief pledge created by All Hands and Hearts and Good360 that ensures KEEN’s response efforts are the most beneficial for people on-the-ground. Resilient Response is a new code of ethics focusing on long-term, sustainable solutions instead of potentially wasteful or even harmful disaster responses.
“Our partnerships with All Hands and Hearts and Good360 are integral to supporting disaster response efforts efficiently and sustainably,” says Chris Enlow, KEEN’s corporate responsibility director. “The Resilient Response action plan ensures we are supporting communities ravaged by Hurricane Dorian in the best ways possible.”
By joining the Resilient Response pledge, KEEN will work with both organizations to plug into a worldwide network of experts to be more equipped to provide effective relief when disaster strikes. Through this partnership, KEEN identifies both immediate and long-term needs to leave communities stronger than before disaster struck and to help them better withstand future disasters.
