Rockford, MI, September 13, 2019 — Chaco, the iconic outdoor lifestyle footwear brand, announced today its Z/Ronin collection. The Z/Ronin is an athleisure lifestyle shoe at the convergence of technical outerwear and street fashion. The design is inspired by the organic sock and sandal trend adopted by both Chaco consumers and the global fashion market.
Like Chaco’s iconic Z sport sandals, the Z/Ronin’s design feature a fully-adjustable pass-through strap system that wraps around the upper and through the midsole to secure feet. New performance features include a toe bumper and a wider, durable rubber outsole for increased stability and traction. The free-flexing polyester knit upper is lightweight and breathable for a barely-there, sock-like fit, intended to recreate the feel of wearing sandals.
“Socks and sandals are increasingly a fall staple for the sandal crowd. We were inspired both by our Chaco fans who layer socks with sandals, as well as how Chaco Z/Sandals are being adopted into the streetwear scene internationally,” said Josh Weichhand, Chaco Creative Director. “Our goal with Z/Ronin is to be intentionally disruptive by design, highlighting our iconic comfort and fully-adjustable Z strap system in a trend-forward closed-toe style for urban outdoor enthusiasts.”
The Z/Ronin received Gear Junkie’s “Best in Show” award at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in November 2018. The new style includes a companion collection of Z/Cloud sport sandals featuring waffle texture straps that coordinate with the Z/Ronin.
