Backcountry and Competitive Cyclist launched a membership program called Expedition Perks, where customers can earn access to concierge-like customer service in its Gearhead program with product and activity experts. Participants can also earn redeemable points for cashback rewards and other benefits through Backcountry Competitive Cyclist and in Backcountry brick and mortar stores.
The program operates on three levels —Trailhead, Switchback and Summit.
- Members receive $5 in cashback rewards for every 500 points earned;
- New members begin the program at the Trailhead level, earning five points for every dollar spent on full-priced items and a 10 percent birthday discount;
- After spending $200 a year, members move to the Switchback level with access to Gearheads, personalized service and faster response times. They also earn double points and a 15 percent birthday discount; and
- Members who spend $1,000 annually move to the Summit level with the same benefits as Switchback members plus free returns and a 20 percent birthday discount.
