Alpen announced the next generation of secure bicycle storage and parking solutions with the launch of its new Basecamp Bike Capsule. The model joins the Classic to provide cyclists with a secure, weatherproof storage solution to protect and charge bikes.

The Basecamp is larger than its Classic model to accommodate more bike styles, including e-bikes, cargo bikes and mountain bikes. Upgraded features include a gravity-fed rear wheel chock that holds bikes upright and an optional internal Hiplok ground anchor to lock bikes inside using a traditional bike lock. The company’s mobile app operates the integrated, connected smart lock, eliminating the need for physical keys and allowing users to share access to stored bikes safely. It also enables short and long-term secure parking. Using Alpen’s app, cyclists can geolocate a Basecamp Bike Capsule and remotely reserve, unlock and pay for bike parking.

“At the end of the day, Alpen exists to enable people to ride bikes more often to more destinations,” said Founder Eric Pearson. “We are solving some of the critical infrastructural shortcomings around secure, convenient bike parking and safe e-bike battery charging that, if left unaddressed, could threaten the success of the two-wheeled mobility revolution. Cycling has so many great tailwinds these days, and e-bike technology is bringing a much wider demographic into the fold. The e-bike market is growing fast, and it’s transforming the way we get around town. It’s a healthier, less maddening alternative for commuters, versus sitting in traffic, it’s good for the environment and, most importantly, it’s fun.”

Both the Classic and Basecamp models feature rotomolded construction. An e-bike charger grommet allows e-bikes to be plugged into a wall outlet and charged inside the Capsule. Internal pegboards on both sides come with hooks and bins for customized organization of cycling gear and equipment. Each Capsule can work with most ground surfaces with several attachment methods.
