President Biden announced plans to appoint 27 members, including current and retired Olympians, to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition.

The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition is a federal advisory committee that promotes healthy, accessible eating and physical activity. 

President Biden issued Executive Order 14048, renewing the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition, which allows for continued promotion of the National Youth Sports Strategy and provides for the work of the Council to include a focus on expanding national awareness of the importance of mental health as it pertains to physical fitness and nutrition.

In 2022, President Biden appointed José Andrés and Elena Delle Donne as co-chairs of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, & Nutrition.

Among the sports personalities on the list is Stephen Curry, point guard of the Golden State Warriors. The appointees also include Olympians Chloe Kim (snowboarder), Elana Meyers Taylor (bobsledder), Meyers Taylor(bobsledder), and retired Olympic medalists Chaunté Lowe (track and field), Tamika Catchings (basketball) and Paralympic medalist Melissa Stockwell (triathlon). Martin Ingelsby, head men’s basketball coach at The University of Delaware, was also appointed.
