Powerhandz Inc. has signed three-time NBA All-Star and Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams as its newest brand ambassador to help promote a weighted anti-grip glove and slick ball wrap designed to increase hand strength and dexterity. The products had gained traction with NBA and WNBA and youth players across the world since being introduced in July 2014.

Williams joined this team based on his belief that skill development is critical to the success of any athlete. Powerhandz products provide a combination of added resistance to strengthen hand and arm muscles and an anti-friction material that decreases dexterity during training.

Powerhandz Anti-Grip Weighted Training Gloves features weight strategically placed around flex points on the top side of the glove, stretch fabric and an anti-grip material on the palm side of the glove. The slippery fabric makes it more difficult to catch and maintain control of a ball. Ideal for football and basketball training. Up to 2 LB in weight for each pair based on size.

“I realized after returning to the court, every detail of my training is critical to performing at All-Star level. When I incorporated the anti-grip glove into my drills, it was a tough session. I had to concentrate more, my normal technique was being challenged and I could feel my hand and arm muscles flex during each movement,” Williams said. “I have chosen to partner with Powerhandz because it's truly the best ball handling product I have seen and I want my teammates and youth to see the importance of training at all levels, especially after the extensive training regimen I have undergone the past few years.”

Williams is currently in his fourth season with the Brooklyn Nets. Originally drafted out of University of Illinois, third overall in 2005 by the Utah Jazz, Williams spent six years with the Jazz before being traded to the Nets. The Dallas-native is known as a leader in the league and has earned two Olympic gold medals. In addition to his success on the court, Williams has established the Point of Hope Foundation off the court whose vision is to create unique opportunities to raise funds that can directly impact the lives of children in need. The foundation has supported cancer research, scholarships, Boys and Girls Club and most recently partnered with Autism Speaks.

Williams says, “People support me night-in and night-out, it's my way of giving back and I am blessed to be able to do so.”

Williams and CEO & Founder of Powerhandz, Darnell Jones, have a history that goes back to Jones training Williams' AAU team, Deron Williams Elite. Jones adds, “Powerhandz was birthed based on using unconventional training techniques used with Deron's AAU team and also with local athletes in the DFW metroplex.” After receiving positive feedback from his training method, Jones decided to develop a company that focus on skill development training. Since its launch, these products have been sold to NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLB and PGA professionals around the globe.

Jones states, “Although Deron and I have a friendship, I wanted to validate our products in the NBA community prior to letting him use them. I was honored when an accomplished athlete like Deron immediately saw the benefits after training with Powerhandz products during his first session.” Jones speaks to Williams' role, “Deron will be a great brand ambassador as I have seen his commitment to giving back to the youth through his AAU program and I have seen him persevere this season in order to give his teammates his all.”

The Nets and Williams recently clinched a spot in the 2015 NBA Playoffs. As Williams gears up for his sixth postseason, he will continue to train with Powerhandz as he and his teammates make a run for the NBA Championships. Williams adds, “I accept my responsibility as a leader on my team and within the NBA and its time for me to make a greater impact at this next stage of my career.”
