Pizza Hut introduced limited-edition Pizza Hut Pie Tops, basketball shoes that features a button that orders pizza.
“It’s always important that we make it easy for fans to order the Pizza Hut pizza they love without missing a moment of the March Madness action,” said David Daniels, vice president, media and advertising, Pizza Hut. “We know pizza is a fan favorite during the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, and our special-edition Pie Tops are a culturally-timed creative expression of our commitment to providing the easiest pizza ordering and delivery experience possible.”
The shoes are equipped with Bluetooth communication via a smart button inside the shoe tongue. The button connects to the user’s phone, allowing the user to press the button and instantly submit a pizza order.
The brand enlisted basketball great and March Madness legend Grant Hill to star in its latest TV campaign, where he demonstrates that success on the basketball court takes hard work, but ordering pizza is easy.
According to Ad Week, only 64 pairs of shoes were made to match the amount of teams in the Big Dance bracket, and most of them will go to influencers and people in the media.
