The American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) 2017 Petzl Scholarship will go to Naz Ahmed, who will utilize the scholarship to pursue an AMGA Rock Guide Course. The AMGA is an educational non-profit dedicated to supporting the culture of American mountain craft.

“We are happy to help support Naz Ahmed as she increases her skills and shares her knowledge with the climbing community. We believe that her work as a guide will have a positive impact on our community and look forward to the day she achieves full AMGA guide certification,” said Dave Hugar, marketing director for Petzl

Petzl has been affiliated with the AMGA since 1990, providing verticality and lighting gear to guides and climbers. The company’s AMGA contributions help keep tuition costs low and support a scholarship for an eligible student taking an AMGA program in any discipline.

“I am grateful for the opportunity the AMGA and Petzl have given me to advance my mountain guiding education,” said Ahmed. “I look forward to learning and finding ways to improve my clients’ and my safety, experience and knowledge in remote dramatic environments.”
