Petzl, the manufacturer of technical climbing gear and Hands-Free
Lighting, hired Justin Roth as Communications Manager. Roth’s experience
includes senior and chief editorial positions at Climbing and Urban
Climber magazines for the past three years.
Eric Wynn, who has
held the Communications Manager post for the last six
years, will be moving to Petzl’s corporate headquarters in France to
take on the role of International Sport Marketing Communications
Manager.
In his editorial role, Petzl said Roth clearly communicated stories
about climbing and climbers, while managing countless contributors and
deadlines and reporting on climbing related news, athletes, and
technical gear. He worked closely with communications managers from
across the industry, gaining an insider’s perspective and best practices
in reaching editors, writers, and consumers. Roth was also responsible
for web-based communications and social media content for Climbing and
Urban Climber’s online communities.

As communications manager,
Roth will be responsible for overseeing Petzl America’s public relations
campaigns, coordinating advertising production, and writing and
copyediting Petzl’s communications materials.
