Pearl Izumi, a manufacturer of performance cycling apparel, footwear and essentials, announced its 2017 Ambador Team members.

Forty-six Ambadors have been hand-selected to represent the brand based on their involvement in the cycling and triathlon communities and their passion for the sport. The Ambador name is derived from an excerpt of the Pearl Izumi Pact, where athletes pledge to “take the ass out of ambassador.”

“Working with this diverse group of passionate riders is really exciting,” said Andrew Hammond, global brand manager, Pearl Izumi. “They exude a love for the sport and we can’t wait to see everything they accomplish this year.”

The team is comprised of 24 women and 22 men from across the country with dozens of races, events and trips planned.

“For me, it is all about the joy of riding in beautiful places and the sensations of freedom and speed on a bike. I want to share my passion for the remoteness of the backcountry and the peace that those places offer,” said new Ambador Erik Proano. “The bike is a perfect tool to access the beauty of these natural sanctuaries.”

As part of the Endure & Enjoy brand platform, Pearl Izumi aims to unite athletes under The Pact, a written agreement that encourages riders to take back the sport from elitists, and encourage riders to endure and enjoy it in the purest way. To sign The Pact visit thepact.pearlizumi.com/.

“I believe Pearl Izumi has its heart in the right place with The Pact. We share the same belief that cycling needs more inclusiveness and warmth and less attitude and clique-ishness,” said Daniel Sharp, 2017 Pearl Izumi Ambador. “My favorite things in the world are riding and exploring by bike, taking photos, writing and sharing those rides.”
