Scott Tucker, the former president of Montrail, has joined Pearl Izumi as the director of run. The hiring is part of the formation of a separate run business unit has been incubating for the past year at Pearl Izumi, and follows on the heels of the company assembling its first Run-specific sales organization that focuses exclusively on the run specialty channel.

The new business unit will support the company's growth in the run footwear and apparel categories and deliver increased momentum with Pearl's current run specialty partners.

Chuck Sanson, Pearl Izumi's National Sales Manager, will continue to lead the sales team in the US market, and has been instrumental in the development of the newly-formed Run sales force. Pearl Izumi's continue focus and product direction will be in the performance road, trail and triathlon categories.

Most recently, Tucker has served as Director of Running for Scott Sports, the diversified bike, run and outdoor manufacturer, where he was responsible for sales force formation, marketing and operations for the division. Prior to that, he founded Cova25, a ground-breaking agency aimed at creating customized footwear. From 1995 to 2007, Tucker was at Montrail Inc. in Seattle, where he served as President.

In that role, he was responsible for all branding initiatives, product development, operations, sales and finance, and growing global sales from $1 million to $16 million at the time the company was sold. He is a graduate of Middlebury College and owns both an MS and an MBA from the University of Washington. He is an avid athlete, having completed multiple Ironman races and ultra-distance trail races.
