Polygiene, the Swedish provider of odor control and freshness technologies, is expanding its partnership with Patagonia Inc.

Polygiene is a bluesign approved odor control treatment that can be applied to a range of textiles and surfaces. Polygienes silver-salt application is derived from recycled content (silver mostly from recycled electronics) and its use can reduce the need for frequent laundering, saving water and energy over the life cycle of apparel.

For Fall 2013 many Patagonia products debuting at this Winters Outdoor Retailer, Snowsports Industries of America (SIA) and ISPO trade shows, will include branded Polygiene treatments. Patagonias industry leading Capilene base layer collection will feature Polygiene permanent odor control in silkweight, lightweight, midweight and expedition weight styles.

Many of Patagonias Fall 2013 trail running base layers will also feature Polygiene including the Fore Runner Shirt, Gamut Shirt and All Weather Top.

“In choosing Polygiene as our exclusive anti-odor technology across our Capilene baselayers, Patagonia customers can feel confident they have the best performing and most enviro-friendly anti-odor technology available”, explains Tyler LaMotte, Global Business Unit Director – Performance Baselayer, Snowsports, Trail Running

Todd Copeland, Environmental Product Specialist at Patagonia stated, Patagonia will not sacrifice performance yet we strive to minimize our environmental impact. Effective, long-lasting odor control extends the useful life of our Capilene Performance Baselayers. Polygiene meets our strictest laboratory requirements and performs excellent in field use. As Patagonia scrutinized odor control technology against all environmental concerns, bluesign approval and recycled silver were key attributes that led us to select Polygiene.

Christian von Uthmann, Polygiene CEO, commented, Patagonia is a milestone partner for Polygiene because they represent a balance between performance and environmental responsibility-exactly the same ethos of our brand. We are very proud to be a branded ingredient in their clothing and we are confident consumers will notice the performance Polygiene delivers.

Polygiene branded Patagonia garments will be available to consumers Fall 2013.
