San Francisco-based public relations and sports marketing agency OutsidePR has appointed longtime outdoor industry professional Massimo Alpian as account director. Alpian, a seasoned marketer and driven endurance athlete and skier, will be based in Boulder, CO.

Alpian joins OutsidePR with almost a decade of sales, marketing and PR experience. Massimo began his outdoor industry career at Eastern Mountain Sports and REI in buying and sales. He also spent five years in various marketing roles at Eldorado Climbing Walls and DYNAFIT and Salewa North America. Alpian most recently worked as PR account manager at rygr, executing strategy for KEEN Inc. and Fjällräven. As account director at OutsidePR, he will support a portfolio of more than 15 brands and lead public relations efforts for clients such as Injinji, Backcountry and Cotopaxi.
Massimo is also a philanthropist and humanitarian. With an accomplished international non-profit career, Alpian focused on human rights and humanitarian work in Brazil and Africa at organizations like UNICEF and the United Nations. He also holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Columbia University and undergraduate degrees from New York University and St. John’s University.
