Outdoor Vitals, the Utah-based performance outdoor apparel and gear brand, has added the Tushar Rain Jacket and Altitude Sun Hoodie to its apparel, sleep systems and pack line.
Available July 5, the Tushar Rain Jacket weighs 7 ounces, while the Altitude Sun Hoodie is 4 ounces.
Featuring body-mapping membrane technology to increase breathability, the Jacket is seam-taped and waterproof with a durable membrane in high wear areas and a breathable membrane in low wear areas.
“Ultralight rain jackets present a real challenge for designers, as there is typically a tradeoff between weight, breathability and durability,” said Tayson Whittaker, founder, Outdoor Vitals. “At only 7oz., the Tushar Rain Jacket features a 20D micro-ripstop nylon face fabric nearly twice as strong as similar offerings; this is enabled, in part, by the incredible Toray Torain membrane and seam taping that boasts increased breathability and longevity. In addition, we use two different waterproof membranes in the Tushar, which increases breathability and protects the areas that receive the most pressure.”
The Jacket also boasts a 3D printed inner to eliminate extra moisture and keeps the membrane protected and separated from the skin. The 3D print backing reduces weight for stronger fabrics but remains ultralight. Pit zips help with breathability and temperature regulation.
The Altitude Sun Hoodie is thin and quick-drying, made from breathable synthetic fabric that wicks moisture.
