Oros announced its collaboration with former NASA astronaut Fred Gregory on the limited-edition C41 Flight Jacket.
Named after Space Launch Complex 41, the jacket uses modular Solarcore insulation inspired by the spacesuits worn by NASA astronauts. It comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Gregory, with 10 percent of every purchase benefitting the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation.
Solarcore insulation is made with NASA-developed aerogel that is used to insulate spacecraft. By combining its thermal properties with flexible foam that warms without bulk, Oros created its patented insulation. Just 2 mm of Solarcore can “warm as effectively as a typical overstuffed down or synthetic jacket,” said Oros.
This unisex jacket ranges from XS to XXL and offers a large, insulated pass-through kangaroo pocket with zip closures. Inside the end of the jacket’s sleeve is an elastic cuff that extends with a thumb loop. The shell has zoned insulation, an exterior kangaroo solarcore insulated hand pocket, 3D hood, adjustable waist with interior clip, articulated sleeves for range of motion, and water-resistant Aquaguard YKK zips. The lining is 100 percent recycled polyester.
