Following collaborations with fragment design’s Undefeated and Kasina, the Converse Weapon and the low-cut Weapon Ox returned to the brand’s lineup on the eve of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, IN.
Converse originally launched the Weapon in 1986, and it was the “preeminent sneaker of choice” for ballers in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Now, releasing the Weapon and Weapon Ox in their original material composition and form, Converse reintroduced the silhouettes. Both models feature leather uppers, Star Chevron underlays, egret cup soles and outsoles, and the Weapon’s signature Y-bar.
The Weapon was re-crafted in 2020 as part of Converse’s CX line, created with an updated CX foam midsole. Rick Owens also reinterpreted it as the TurbowPn in 2021.
At the helm of the revived Converse Weapon is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the All-NBA first-team point guard and two-time All-Star who stars in the remake of the original 1986 “Choose Your Weapon” campaign, “ushering in the next chapter of the silhouette’s storied legacy.”
The Weapon comes in the original colorways, black and natural ivory, as well as vintage white, ash stone and egret.
