What constitutes good leadership qualities in women? How might women in middle-management positions prepare themselves for leadership? An examination of women's leadership issues will be the highlight of a panel discussion at the annual OIWC Summer Gathering at Abravanel Hall Saturday, August 14th from 6 pm-9: 30 pm.
The all-rock star panel includes women from both inside and outside the industry. The panel includes Kathy McGuire, VP Operations at K2 Sports; Jean Dunham, Master Coach at the Strozzi Institute for Leadership; Colleen Clark, Director Training & Development at EMS; and Dianne Walker, Director of LaunchPad at the University of Utah.
Panelists will discuss their experiences in leading others and share their formulas for success. Questions to be discussed and debated include; What constitutes good leadership qualities in women? What was your greatest learning experience in leading others? What pitfalls and traps would you recommend women avoid?
Following the panel discussion, Summer Gathering attendees will break into small groups to discuss the issues and challenges both men and women deal with in the worlds of marketing, sales, public relations, non-profits, operations and design and development. The opportunity to share experiences with others in similar positions proved to be the highlight of last February's Winter Gathering.
Those who want to stay for the entire evening and not battle the crowds in Salt Lake City restaurants can choose to stay for a buffet dinner at a cost of $10. Tickets for the dinner may be purchased at the OIWC trade show booth or at the door. Tickets are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
Summer Gathering attendees are encouraged to mentor young women or junior members of their trade show team by bringing them to the Winter Gathering.
