Ocean Minded, Inc. named Bethany Hamilton to its team of athletes. Five Years ago Hamilton shocked the world with her undying passion after losing her left arm in a vicious shark attack on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii, her home.


With her commitment to surfing unscathed, Bethany was back in the water a month later and immediately became an international symbol of bravery, perseverance and strength. It is with that same drive and devotion that she competes today on the WQS tour.

Bethany joins the Ocean Minded team on her 18th birthday and is focused on finishing the Women’s World Qualifying Series (WQS) in a prime position, where she is currently seated third. Recently, she achieved her career best when she reached the semifinals at the Roxy Surf Festival in Phillip Island, Australia.
