Glenn Simms, former VP of sales at Plano Molding Co., has passed away at
the age of 90. According to The Beacon News in Aurora, IL, Simms played
a significant role in developing Plano Molding’s fishing tackle
container business.
Simms became an employee in sales training for Plano Molding
Company in 1953. He was eventually put in charge of sales of Plano’s
fledgling plastic fishing tackle
box division. Working closely with mentor James Henning, president of
Plano Molding, Simms brought the
plastic tackle box of Plano Molding Company from an unknown entity to
the world’s largest fishing tackle container company. He was with the
company for more than 30
years.
He continued to
hold a seat on their executive board. In 2006, Simms was inducted into
the International Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame due to the work he had
done in furtherance of the sport of fishing for the family.
