Lamar Hunt, founder of the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as one of the founders of the American Football League and among the leaders of the AFL-NFL merger, passed away Wednesday evening December 13 at the age of 74. Hunt is also credited with coining the term “Super Bowl” for the championship game of the NFL.

In addition to his work with professional football, Hunt was also a leading figure in bringing professional soccer to the United States. The Hunt Family served as the Investor/Operators of the Kansas City Wizards franchise of Major League Soccer from ‘95-06. The Hunt Family still oversees the operations of two MLS franchises, F.C. Dallas and the Columbus Crew.
