Leading retailers of athletic footwear from various channels will share their views on what retailers need to do in order to remain profitable. This panel discussion, moderated by Scott Carey, VP-Sales, Brooks Sports, Inc., will be held Monday, May 19, at the 39th Annual NSGA Management Conference & 5th Annual Team Dealer Summit.

The Conference/Summit will be held May 18-21 at the new JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz.

Panel participants include: Bruce Johnson, Owner, Gazelle Sports; Bob Liewald, Executive Vice President, GSI Commerce, Inc.; Glenn Lyon, Executive Vice President of Merchandising & Marketing, Finish Line; Lindsay Rice, Senior Vice President/General Merchandising Manager, Galyan’s; and Joe Wood, President, Famous Footwear.

The session will focus on how vendors can help their customers generate greater profits selling footwear. Each panelist will address issues and challenges most important to his respective channel.

The Team Dealer Summit, which focuses on issues directly affecting team dealers, is co-sponsored by Mueller Sports Medicine, Russell Athletic, Sporting Goods Dealer and the NSGA Team Dealer Division.

Guy Kawasaki, CEO of Garage Technology Ventures, a boutique investment bank for high technology companies, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker on Monday, May 19.

Previously, Kawasaki was an Apple Fellow at Apple Computer, Inc. A noted speaker and the founder of various personal computer companies, Guy was one of the individuals responsible for the success of the Macintosh computer. He is also the author of seven books including “Rules for Revolutionaries” and “How to Drive Your Competition Crazy.” He has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.

“Guy Kawasaki is an energetic speaker who has a wealth of information to share,” NSGA President & CEO James L. Faltinek said. “We have seen him, and were confident that Conference/Summit attendees will be glad they were there.”
