The National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) has established the James L. Faltinek Scholarship Program, named in honor of retired President & CEO Jim Faltinek. Each year, a total of five scholarships to the NSGA Management Conference & Team Dealer Summit will be awarded to long-time NSGA-member retailers/dealers and first-time Conference/Summit attendees through this program.

“The growth of the Management Conference and Team Dealer Summit in the last 10 years can be traced directly to the efforts of Jim Faltinek,” said NSGA Chairman of the Board Bob Dickman, general manager of the Sport Supply Group Team Dealer Division. “The Team Dealer Summit was founded 11 years ago and is an important part of the event.

“This scholarship program is a fitting way to honor Jim for his dedication to NSGA for nearly three decades,” Dickman said. “These scholarships will allow retailers and dealers to attend the Conference and Summit, who otherwise may not be able to be part of this great event.”

The 45th Annual NSGA Management Conference and 11th Annual Team Dealer Summit will be held May 3-6, 2009 at the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio, Texas.

NSGA staff will select the scholarship winners based on criteria recommended by the Board of Directors. Retailers and team dealers who haven’t attended the Conference/Summit may indicate their interest in being considered for a scholarship by contacting Paul Prince at NSGA by February 20.
