Nordstrom will no longer be opening its first Alabama store in the Riverchase Galleria in Birmingham, AL. Two years ago, the company announced its intentions to open a 143,000 square foot store in spring 2012. According to various media sources, General Growth, which owns eight shopping centers in Oregon, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month. A spokeswoman for the company said this does not rule out future Alabama expansions.
