John Capriotti, director of athletics at Nike, is stepping down after guiding the brand’s track and field sports marketing group since 1992. He will continue to work with Nike as a consultant, according to The Oregonian.

Capriotti “will consult and continue to play an important role in our relationship with athletes,” Nike said in a statement to the newspaper.

The report also noted Craig Masback, VP, sports marketing/Greater China, Japan & Global Business Affairs, had retired; and Tim Phelan, director, sports marketing, North America, had departed.

The changes come as Nike earlier this year warned of layoffs, including about 500 jobs at its Oregon headquarters, as resources shift toward high-potential growth opportunities, including digital.
