NikeLab reignited its NikeLab Gyakusou collaboration with Japanese fashion designer and founder of Undercover, Jun Takahashi, in a new capsule of run-wear drawing inspiration from the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Since 2010, NikeLab and Takahashi have experimented with the performance/style balance, rolling out a dozen running collections within its six-year engagement. Takahashi was able to bring his “less-but-better” design philosophy to NikeLab, as it mirrors Nike Founder Bill Bowerman’s passion for minimalism.

The latest collection in the ongoing partnership shifts away from its characteristic muted color palette to bright primary colors (punctuated by neons) that capture the vibrancy of Rio de Janeiro.

Select silhouettes in the range — including the NikeLab Gyakusou Dri-FIT Distance Singlet and NikeLab Gyakusou Dri-FIT Distance Short — are inspired by the garments in which elite distance runners compete.

Takahashi is considered one of the founding designers of streetwear, and is influenced by punk style. He has collaborated with Beats by Dr. Dre, Supreme and others.
