Nike’s research and development operation in Beaverton, OR, the Nike Sport Research Lab (NikeLab), released the second part of its collaboration with British fashion designer Kim Jones.
The five-piece installment includes a jacket and running shoes and features Nike Tech Fleece in its hoodie, top and pant. As a follow-up to the active destination use imagined for the first collection, the second is designed for travel.
Nike Tech Fleece is a good fit for these on-the-go garments with its crease-resistant lightweight breathability, according to a Nike press release that also stated the innovative nature of the collection is “[t]rue to Nike and Jones.” NikeLab garment dyed its fleece for the first time, and the clothing is designed with straps and snaps to facilitate easy packing.
“Nike Tech Fleece is something that’s a really progressive fabric in terms of development… It looks quite simple, but someone who is into technical details and a bit of a geek, like I am, about products and design, would really appreciate how that’s made, because it’s actually really a hard thing to do,” said Jones.
