Nike has signed a deal to replace Under Armour as the sponsor of Temple University, effective July 2020.

The three-year agreement makes Nike the exclusive athletic footwear, apparel and accessories provider for each of the Owls’ 19 varsity sports.

  • “We are very excited about our new partnership with Nike, the leading apparel company of collegiate athletics, “said Dr. Patrick Kraft, Temple Director of Athletics. “We look forward to working together in this partnership to enhance the Temple and Nike brands.
  • “I’m really looking forward to the move to Nike. They have always been at the cutting edge for sports gear and apparel so it’s only natural that we would engage in a partnership. I know our student-athletes will be excited to be wearing the Swoosh,” said Temple Football coach Rod Carey.
  • “Nike is the gold standard in basketball.  It is the industry leader and the preferred shoe for the majority of basketball players.   This new partnership will really be beneficial in terms of recruiting and will be well received by our current players,” said Temple Men’s Basketball coach Aaron McKie.
  • “We’re very excited to begin this relationship with Nike. Their gear, shoes and equipment are great especially from a basketball standpoint. Becoming a Nike school is a huge benefit for our program and we look forward to working with such a well-respected brand,” said Temple Women’s Basketball coach Tonya Cardoza.

Since 2010, the University’s official athletic sponsor had been Under Armour. Temple signed a 10-year extension with the brand in 2015.
