Nike is putting a ring on it with worldwide soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. The brand first inked an endorsement deal with the football player in 2003, and since his first signing, Ronaldo has sported more than 60 different models of the Nike Football Mercurial boots.
The swoosh reported that the partnership will continue “well into the future with a new, long-term contract.”
How long exactly? We’re not sure, but in a video released alongside the announcement Ronaldo indicates the bond is for life.

“I have a great relationship with this brand, I have great friends here in the company,” said Ronaldo. “We work as a family too. This is my brand.”
According to TMZ, the deal could be worth over $1 billion with the duration of the deal similar to LeBron James’ lifetime pact. Along with Brazilian star Neymar, Ronaldo is the face of the Nike for global football.
Ronaldo has given back to Nike by submitting extensive feedback and insights on product development, especially in regards to the Mercurial Superfly boots that he wears. His commitment to fitness has also informed Nike’s training products, while his style is regularly on display in Nike Sportswear.
