Nike announced it is mandating that all office-based employees receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
“Supporting the effort to bring people safely back to their workplaces in January, we will require all office-based employees in the U.S. to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” Nike said in a media statement.
The company currently anticipates bringing employees back to in-person work to all its office locations by January 10, 2022.
On July 28, Google became the first major tech company to announce a vaccine mandate for its employees looking to return to the office later this fall with Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Morgan Stanley among other major corporations following suit.
In the retail space, Under Armour, Saks Fifth Avenue, Walmart, TJX Companies, and Walgreens have announced similar mandates.
Nike’s announcement comes after The White House on September 9 announced a plan to require companies with 100 or more employees to mandate vaccinations or conduct weekly COVID-19 testing.
