Nike made a $400,000 contribution to the Penn State libraries in honor of Nittany Lions football coach Joe Paterno and his wife, Sue. The gift commemorated Joe Paterno's 400th career coaching victory, a 35-21 decision Nov. 6 over Northwestern at Beaver Stadium.
The Paternos have supported fund-raising efforts for the libraries since the 1980s.
“Joe and I have always said that you can't have a great university without a great library,” Sue Paterno said in a statement. “We are delighted that Nike, Inc., has acknowledged this milestone in Joe's career by supporting an institution so important to us.”
