New Balance celebrated global running day on Wednesday, June 7 2017 by hosting a virtual running relay around the world with Team New Balance athletes.
The brand’s athletes in Australia will start the day by taking over the @newbalance Snapchat channel and pass to other global locations to inspire runners around the world to commemorate Global Running Day.
Team New Balance athlete Olivia Easton will kick things off in Australia and pass the baton to Camille Buscomb in the Netherlands. Then Harry Aikines and Team New Balance Manchester in the U.K. will take over followed by Bruna Guido and Ciro Violin in Brazil with Reid Coolsaet and Khamica Bingham in Canada joining and culminating in the U.S. with Brenda Martinez, Boris Berian and the Big Bear Track Club in California. The virtual race will show the favorite routes of Team New Balance athletes and give viewers around the world a look into how they are celebrating Global Running Day.
“Global Running Day brings athletes together to celebrate the sport of running and what better way to do that than to host a virtual global relay,” said Tom Carleo, VP Running. “Our goal is to inspire athletes of all ages and ability around the world to join us in a run.”
Runners and New Balance followers worldwide can join in Global Running Day simply by running and tagging @nbrunning or using the hashtags #seemyrun and #globalrunningday. Additional team New Balance athletes not participating in the virtual relay will be posting their runs on Snapchat and Instagram.
