Neiman Marcus Inc. said same-store sales fell 7.4% in February. Total revenue fell 5.4% to $288 million from $305 million. Revenue growth trends were the strongest in the company’s stores in Texas and New York City.

In the four-week February period, comparable revenues in the Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, decreased 7.4%. The merchandise categories in the Specialty Retail Stores segment that performed the strongest included beauty and precious jewelry.

The company shifted the timing of its end-of-season sale for certain Specialty Retail store locations into January from February. In addition, the Company moved its annual beauty event into February from March.

Comparable revenues at Neiman Marcus Direct in the four-week February period decreased 6.7%. The top selling merchandise categories in the Direct Marketing segment included women’s apparel and shoes and men’s furnishings.
