SnowSports Industries America (SIA) reports that its 8th annual SIA Summer Snowdown in New York City attracted 78 journalists representing 96 media outlets from television, print and online including Condé Nast Traveler, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, InStyle, Maxim, Men’s Journal, and The New York Times.

Timed to inspire media as they start planning winter editorial content, the July 16 event gave NYC media a sneak peek at next season’s freshest snow sports gear, fashion and accessories at a Manhattan showroom.

“I think the most impressive thing for me was the density of high-quality media we saw at Snowdown. It’s pretty rare to find one single venue with so many good opportunities to share our story,” commented Timm Smith of Voormi, LLC.

“We have great relationships with vertical media and this was an excellent opportunity to get in front of non-endemic press. We had a lot of great face-to-face time and interest,” commented Julia Blumenfeld, communications manager for Head Wintersports.

Twenty SIA Member brands were showcased along with two snow sports non-profit organizations: Alp-N-Rock, Apex Sports Group, CrazeeHeads, Dakine, Dale of Norway, DC Shoes, DPS Skis, Dupraz Skis and Snowboards, Eider, Head Wintersports, Learn to Ski and Snowboard, Never Summer Industries, Polarmax, Quiksilver, RAMP Sports, Roxy, Scott Sports, Seirus Innovation, Sport Obermeyer, Transpack, Voormi, and Winter Trails.

“Eider was super excited to return to the SIA Snowdown for the second time,” said Maro LaBlance, marketing manager for Eider. “The event helps us get in front of New York journalists who may not be able to make it to the SIA Snow Show in Denver. The Snowdown also provides the platform to meet up with dozens of media in one space and not have to do all of the legwork.”
