Shortly after recalling 420,000 of their Bowflex machines (see SEW_0405) Nautilus has decided to extend the warranty on all of the “Bowflex Power Pro” machines from five years to ten. In connection with the recall, the CPSC said that there were “59 back, neck and shoulder injuries,” and “14 back, neck, shoulder, teeth, nose and head injuries,” associated with either the backboard or the “lat tower” malfunctioning.
The company initially responded by offering a “offering a free, easy to install, safety reinforcement kit,” and is now extending the existing warranty for all of their past, present and future customers.
“We are so confident in the quality and durability of our Bowflex Power Pro product line that we are extending the warranty to ten years,” said Gregg Hammann, President and CEO of The Nautilus Group.
