A.T. Cross, which purchased Native Eyewear in March, saw its optical segment sales increase 39.8% to $12.3 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 27, 2008.

 

CFO Kevin Mahoney stated that the company’s third quarter revenues for Native eyewear were roughly $2.5 million. Native had approximately $400,000 in operating income in the third quarter and $1.6 million for the six months since Cross has owned it.

 

According to a press release issued by Cross at the time of the Native acquisition, the eyewear company had fiscal year 2007 revenues of approximately $11 million,


The company reported consolidated third quarter sales rose 11% to $39.0 million compared to $35.1 million in the third quarter of 2007.
The optical group had revenue increases of 39.8% to 34.5% in the current quarter over the first nine months, said President and CEO David Whalen.

 

When adjusted for the Native acquisition, the group had revenue increases of 11.6% in the third quarter and 13.7% for the first nine months of 2008.


Whalen said that A.T. Cross would continue to invest in its optical division. “We believe there is a big opportunity with regard to [expanding Native distribution] and we have 5 new products ready to go for Native to be really starting to be introduced to the market now for 2009. So we do expect more expansion in 2009.”
