The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), a global organization that provides training and certifications to fitness professionals, has hired Miriam Vega Perry as its vice president of International.
With over 20 years of experience in diverse global markets, Perry’s career includes leadership roles at multinational companies, including Nestle, Caribe General Electric and Apollo Global. Most recently, as VP of International at Ascend Learning, she led the Jones & Bartlett Learning Group and Public Safety Group portfolios, implementing go-to-market initiatives and establishing international partnerships that “resulted in double-digit growth for the NASM’s international division.”
“I am honored to lead NASM’s international efforts and work alongside the team to expand our global footprint and impact,” said Perry. “We will continue to uphold NASM’s reputation as a leader in fitness and wellness education by introducing innovative programs and courses to new audiences around the world.”
In her new role, Perry oversees NASM’s strategy for global expansion. She will focus on strengthening operations in existing markets and identifying new growth opportunities in new regions in the fitness and wellness space.

Perry holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is fluent in three languages.
