Mueller Sports Medicine appointed industry veteran John Cayer to the position of president. Cayer will report directly to CEO Brett Mueller and brings 27 years of experience in consumer goods general management, marketing and sales globally.

As part of the continuing growth strategy of Mueller Sports Medicine, the company welcomes its first president that is not a Mueller family member. Cayer previously worked at SC Johnson, Kimberly-Clark and Abbott in multiple assignments domestically and globally. He has a history of delivering breakthrough incremental category and brand growth based on deep consumer insights, while developing high-performance teams and helping the community. Cayer has led iconic brands such as Windex, Raid, OFF!, Glade, Cottonelle, Scott, Viva and Kabikiller. In addition to building these businesses, he also led marketing for Japan, the cross-functional team at Target, global brand licensing and global brand equity while at privately-held SC Johnson over a 20+ year career. He is a graduate of Cornell University.

Brett Mueller, currently president, will move to CEO. Brett Mueller, who has held the position of president for 18 years, successfully expanded corporate structure and led the company’s impressive sales growth, including the founding of subsidiary Mueller Japan.

Curt Mueller, founder and CEO, will remain chairman of the board. In 1959, Curt Mueller pioneered the sports medicine category, incorporating Mueller Sports Medicine in 1961. He is an NSGA Hall of Famer with a long list of industry firsts including creation of the retail sports medicine category and Quench Gum.
