Mountain High Hosiery has changed its name to Mountain High Knitwear.  The change reflects the company’s strategy to expand and grow its licensed and proprietary businesses, including entering the accessory market and adding knitwear items. In addition, the company has signed with Pony for a hosiery collection to complement the brand’s athletic-inspired footwear and apparel ranges.

Bright color hits and edgy, vintage details with an overall focus on Pony’s Chevron will be the hallmarks of this exciting new line for both men and women, which will be available for Fall ‘08.

Mountain High Knitwear will also introduce a new corporate identity and new B-to-B website, mhknitwear.com, for Spring 2008, which will be launched on October 1st.  The company’s New York showroom is also undergoing extensive renovation to incorporate its roster of brands, including Sean John, Tommy Hilfiger and Royal Bermuda.  The new showroom will be unveiled in January.  Most recently the company has signed PONY and SEAN JOHN, and will make several announcements in the coming weeks.

“The new company name, Mountain High Knitwear, is part of our overall strategy to build upon our expertise and category leadership, and to maximize our manufacturing and merchandising capabilities to better serve the market,” said Gerald Birin, CEO of Mountain High Knitwear.  “As a premier knitwear manufacturer, we have provided leading brands with our manufacturing expertise and creativity.  We are excited to introduce new, innovative products and advanced technologies to our customers.”

RELAUNCH OF ROYAL BERMUDA
Mountain High Knitwear will also re-launch its proprietary luxury brand, Royal Bermuda for Spring 2008 with a refreshed logo.  The men’s and women’s sock collections, which feature the highest quality cottons, cotton cashmere, silk and wool in a variety of patterns and solids, will be targeted to upscale specialty and department stores.  Retail reaction has been excellent. In addition, the collection ROYAL by royal Bermuda, will be positioned for large chain distribution.

“We are beyond thrilled to be teaming up with Mountain High Knitwear as they are known for their quality product and unmatched experience,” said PONY President and CEO Kevin Wulff. The new collection aims to redefine performance with design, according to VP of Design Kyle Pulli. “Pony’s design philosophy is to make innovative performance products while keeping the look clean and sophisticated,” Pulli said.

“We are excited to be partnering with such an iconic brand,” said MH Knitwear CEO Gerald Birin. “We believe that Pony’s reintroduction into the marketplace is going to have tremendous appeal in the market, and Mountain High’s ability to interpret the brand’s retro designs into hosiery will offer the customer a complete look that’s on the cutting edge of athletic-inspired fashion.”
