Mountain Hardwear Inc. has named Ted Ganio product manager of outerwear and Ulrike Kupfer has been appointed European marketing manager for the company.

Ted Ganio has been named to the new position of product manager of outerwear and will oversee the company’s expansive outerwear line. This includes the new Snowear line, which will be introduced in January, 2005. Prior to joining Mountain Hardwear, Ganio was the vice president of operations at Adventure Medical Kits; the director of operations at Sierra Designs; and a retail and merchandising specialist at Adventure 16 in Southern California. Ganio will report to Mountain Hardwear Vice President of Design and Sourcing Paul Kramer.

“This new position allows us to further focus on our growing outerwear line,” said Mike Wallenfels, Mountain Hardwear’s president effective January 1, 2005. “Ted’s passion for outdoor activities, including cycling, backpacking and kayaking, will lend true authenticity to his work here.”

Ulrike Kupfer has been named Mountain Hardwear’s European marketing manager. Kupfer will oversee the company’s retail and consumer operations for Italy, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Slovakia, Austria and Germany and will be based in Krailling, Germany. Prior to joining Mountain Hardwear, Kupfer was Columbia Sportswear Company’s marketing manager for Germany and Austria. “Ulli has more than 15 years of experience in the European sporting goods market,” said Wallenfels. “She is an avid telemark skier and mountaineer and understands the European enthusiast mindset well.”
