Media sources are reporting that Mossimo Inc. laid off four of its clothing design staff Thursday, according reports from the company's Canadian retail partner. The affected staff is reportedly is comprised of “most of the team in charge of designing men's, women's and children's” apparel for Zellers, a unit of Hudson's Bay Co. of Toronto.
The designers will continue to work through the end of the year, the source said.
The report said that it was unclear whether the layoffs mark any change in Mossimo's relationship with Zellers.
Mossimo's brands in the Zellers line include the casual Mossimo Red Label denim and sportswear lines and Mossimo Black Label, which is geared toward the workplace.
