Morakniv, creator of Swedish knives since 1891, released a collection of outdoor knives and carbon steel versions of two of its more popular woodcarving options. Scout 39 and Scout 39 Safe are the latest in the Scout category, dating back nearly a century. The two woodcarving knives include the Woodcarving 106 and 120 in carbon steel.
The Scout 39 features a barrel-shaped handle in Scandinavian birch wood, double finger protection, optional rounded tip, 2mm thick blade made from recycled Swedish stainless steel, full rat-tail tang that runs the length of the handle, vegetable-tanned leather sheath, strap with a button lock, available with or without a pointed tip, and comes in three colors.
“When updating these knives, we had the history of the Scout knives in mind,” said Linus Bastman, project manager and product developer, Morakniv. “These knives were introduced in the late 1920s, so people are familiar with the design when looking at them. This new collection features updated colors and materials, so customers are getting a little bit of the past and a little bit of the future in one beautiful package.”
Morakniv Woodcarving 106 and Woodcarving 120 carbon steel knives feature a barrel-shaped handle in Scandinavian birch wood. The 106 features an 82mm tapered blade, while the 120 features a 60mm tapered blade. Both offer a full rat-tail tang that runs the length of the handle
