Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc., which acquired Moosejaw in March 2023, is closing the retailer’s remaining three stores, in Birmingham, MI, Salt Lake City, UT and Bentonville, AR, according to the Detroit Free Press.

DKS has already integrated Moosejaw’s company website into the Public Lands website, the outdoor arm of Dick’s Sporting Goods, which opened the doors of its debut store in Cranberry Township, PA, on September 24, 2021.

Dick’s confirmed in September 2023 that it would close 11 of the 14 Moosejaw stores it acquired, including Moosejaw’s offices in Madison Heights, MI in February 2024.

DKS merged Moosejaw’s remaining staff under the Public Lands umbrella. The Moosejaw acquisition was seen as a vehicle to accelerate the growth of Public lands, which first launched in 2021.

Eight Public Lands stores operate in Kennesaw, GA; Framingham, MA; Melville, NY; Medford, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; Woodbury, MN; Columbus, OH; and Charlottesville, VA.

The expansion of Public Lands stores slowed in recent years as Dick’s has focused on expanding its House of Sport concept, although Public Lands’s Woodbury opened in June.
