VF Corp.'s Outdoor & Action Sports coalition has chosen Moosejaw Mountaineering as the exclusive online retailer for the Napapijri, a Norwegian apparel brand that withdrew from the US market in 2009.

Napapijri (pronounced “Napa-peery”) is an Italian label with Scandinavian influences that is part of VF Corporation’s Outdoor & Action Sports family of brands. As a leading retailer of other VF Corp.’s brands such as The North Face and Smartwool, Moosejaw was a natural choice to re-introduce Napapijri to the U.S. market.  Moosejaw also showed its strength in introducing new European brands with the highly successful U.S. launch of Swedish outdoor brand Fjallraven in 2012.

“We’ve been searching the globe for the most notable brands to offer our customers. When we saw the success of Fjallraven and Canada Goose, we knew there was a hunger out there for something different,” explains Moosjeaw’s CEO, Eoin Comerford. “We’ve had our eyes on Napapijri for a while now, and we’re eager to bring the iconic brand back to the US.”

Napapijri is a premium, outdoor-inspired lifestyle brand with an “international vocation for technical quality and a cosmopolitan spirit.” They offer a full collection of men's and women's apparel as well as bags and luggage designed for adventurous travelers.

Napapijri has not been accessible to U.S. customers since closing its U.S. stores in 2009 to focus on its core European market.

“Even though it’s been almost four years, you still see Napapijri’s classic Norwegian flag logo on jackets and bags at ski resorts and on city streets across the country,” said Steve Fife, Moosejaw’s chief merchant.  “We know there are a bunch of loyal U.S. Napapijri customers out there just waiting for the brand to come back.”

Moosejaw will offer a full range of Napapijri outerwear, sportswear and bags through Moosejaw.com and at select retail locations starting in October 2013.
