Moosejaw appointed Steve Fife as its new chief merchant/GMM. Before joining Moosejaw, Fife served as the VP of divisional merchandise manager of seasonal apparel and accessories at The Sports Authority.

After graduating from Indiana University in 1986, he began his career at Burdines, working as a buyer and later as a divisional merchandise manager. In 1997, Fife moved to Galyan’s where he rose to the position of VP/divisional merchandise manager.

“Steve’s knowledge of the outdoor industry and proven track record will be a key to growing our core and emerging categories. Steve also loves to do magic tricks and is very accomplished on the pogo stick,” said Harvey Kanter, President and CEO of Moosejaw.

At Moosejaw, Fife will oversee buying, private label development, and visual presentation teams and lead the strategic merchandising direction of the company.

Fife explained, “I am very excited to join Moosejaw and be part of such an innovative, fast-growing company. We have a strong buying and planning team already in place, and I look forward to helping drive Moosejaw’s strategic merchandise vision to the next level. The doughnuts and karaoke on Fridays sound pretty decent as well.”
