Mizuno USA Inc. has been authorized to begin assembling golf clubs at a free trade zone (FTZ) in Brazelton, GA.

Production under FTZ procedures could exempt Mizuno from customs duty payments on the foreign status components used in export production. On its domestic sales, Mizuno would be able to choose the duty rate during customs entry procedures that applies to golf clubs (duty rate-4.4 percent) for the following foreign status inputs: golf club heads, shafts and grips (duty rate-4.9 percent).

Customs duties also could possibly be deferred or reduced on foreign status production equipment.

Georgia Foreign-Trade Zone, Inc., which holds the license to run FTZ 26, submitted Mizuno's application January 15 and the federal government approved the application May 15.
