Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) announced that Amy Roberts has joined the outdoor retailer as its new social compliance manager.

Roberts comes to MEC from the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), a U.S. trade organization, where she was instrumental in advancing the outdoor industry’s activities in the area of social and environmental responsibility and government affairs.

“Our members rightly expect MEC to ensure our products are made in accordance with MEC’s values,” said Senior Manager of Production Naomi Ozaki. “Ethical sourcing is a cornerstone of MEC’s business success and a key business consideration in how MEC delivers products to our members. We are excited to have an individual of Amy Robert’s caliber lead MEC’s social compliance portfolio.”

Roberts will be responsible for continuing to evolve MEC’s progressive approach to ethical sourcing. Among other activities, her work will include leading compliance and social responsibility initiatives to engage manufacturers, employees, members and industry peers with MEC’s ethical sourcing policies, standards and programs.
