Frank Hugelmeyer, President of Outdoor Industry Association, and Ellen Wessel, President of Moving Comfort, sent out a joint letter to the industry Friday evening explaining that Moving Comfort Sales Director Kay Martin will leave the company and join Boulder-based Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) as Vice President of Member Services, beginning March 1.

“Kay Martin has made a difficult decision but one that we agree is the right one for her and her family which includes husband Bill and daughters Kerry, 10, and Kasey, 7,” Said Wessel in the letter. “Kay has decided to resign her position and make a career shift that will allow her to spend more time on the ground in Boulder, CO, rather than in the friendly skies.”

“Kay has been relentless in her successful drive to expand Moving Comfort sales and distribution,” continued Weesel. “In the three years she has served as Moving Comfort’s Director of Sales, she has traveled more than 200 days per year. She will now refocus her astounding energy and resourcefulness on serving the outdoor industry in the non-profit sector. Moving Comfort and United Airlines will miss her terribly. Moving Comfort has initiated a search for a new Director of Sales.”

Frank Hugelmeyer said that as VP of Member Services for OIA, “Kay will bring her extensive knowledge, vision, and energy to an already strong organization of individuals who are passionate about growing outdoor recreation to become the number one leisure activity in the nation. Her considerable experience working with all facets of the industry, from sales reps and retailers to service providers and manufacturers, gives her and intimate knowledge of what OIA members need. The organization is fortunate to have someone of Kay’s caliber joining the team.”
