Jay Margolis, president and COO of Reebok International Ltd., has assumed the daily responsibilities of leading the Reebok brand following the resignation of Martin Coles, presindent of the Reebok Brand, who cited personal reasons for his decision. As a result of Coles' resignation, Reebok's management team has been streamlined and the company will not replace his current position.

The management change, which will occur after a brief transition, was announced by Paul Fireman, the corporation's chairman and chief executive.

“During the past two years, Jay has played a critical role in our improved financial and operating performance,” said Fireman. “He has worked very closely with our product and marketing teams to ensure that the Reebok brand creates and delivers aspirational and relevant programs that connect with our retailers and consumers around the world. I am confident that Jay will be very aggressive in identifying and maximizing global growth opportunities for the Reebok brand.”

“Martin has put together a strong global team which has made incredible contributions to the brand. I am very excited to work with them,” said Margolis.

Martin Coles was appointed president and chief executive officer of the Reebok brand in June 2002. “During the past eighteen months, Martin achieved many brand objectives, including the launch of our successful Performance campaign and the expansion of Rbk,” said Fireman. “His decision to resign was a very difficult one. The entire Reebok family appreciates the valuable contributions Martin made. We wish him well,” stated Fireman.
