Marmot Mountain, Ltd. announced the acquisition of Marker, Ltd. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Marker, Ltd. is the international apparel licensee of the well-known binding manufacturer, Marker International, GmbH, of Zug, Switzerland and was the official supplier of apparel for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games last winter.

“While the Marmot and Marker brands will remain very separate, there are clear economies that can come from common sourcing and production,” Said Daryl Santos, President of Marker, Ltd.

Steve Crisafulli, CEO of Marmot commented, “Marker is a dominant hardgoods brand throughout the world, particularly in Europe. With that kind of brand recognition, an extension into skiwear and sports apparel is natural. Marmot’s European operations, fulfillment and sales infrastructure should greatly aid us in establishing Marker apparel sales there.”

“This is a great opportunity for us to build on the Olympics and expand our US business,” said Grace Galdi, Executive Vice President and Design Director of Marker. “I am particularly interested in Marmot’s quality standards and experience with complex performance designs.”

Marker will remain headquartered in Salt Lake. No management changes are expected.
